Video: BMW M760Li xDrive Revs Its Engine to Tease Us Even More

For those of us living in the real world, the chance of owning a BMW M760Li xDrive is scarce, at most. This level of power and luxury is typically reserved for the ultra-rich who can afford to spend $200,000 on a car without batting an eyelid. We, the younger enthusiasts out there are in the meantime working on our world-domination goals to try and raise the money needed to not only be able to buy this car before it’s too late but also to afford to keep up with its thirst for gasoline.

The reason why the M760Li xDrive fascinates so many people is because it’s a sort of surrogate for a real M7. While the M car won’t ever see the light of day, the M Performance alternative makes it seem as if it’s not really needed. After all, it delivers so much performance, you’d be hard pressed to think you could ever need anything more. In a straight line, the V12-powered beast will do 62 mph from standstill in 3.7 seconds.

Some of that credit goes to the xDrive all-wheel drive system but most of it comes down to the 6.6-liter ‘heart’ beating under the hood. Thanks to forced induction, it was tweaked to deliver 610 PS and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque and that’s so much torque, the gearbox actually sets off in second gear when launching it. That’s not an issue though as you’d reach a top speed of up to 305 km/h (189 mph) in just a matter of seconds anyway, if the roads allow it.

The video below also focuses on the more brutal side of things when it comes to the M760Li. To be more precise, it shows us exactly how that V12 sounds like through the M Performance exhaust BMW fitted on it. And to be fair, that’s exactly how it should sound. In Sport mode you want this limousine to be sure footed, aggressive but not overly so. It still needs to be poised and classy and that balance is hard to hit. However, the team behind the M760Li nailed just right.
