BMW took the veils off the updated BMW M2 earlier this year and the car is bound to arrive on the driveways of Australian customers starting next month. However, if you live in the land Down Under and are interested in an LCI M2, you should know it comes with a price increase. The best choice in our opinion would be to go for the Australian BMW M2 Pure edition, a version of the M car that has been stripped down to its core essentials, for a smaller price tag.
The BMW M2 Pure comes only with a 6-speed manual gearbox, 8.8-inch iDrive 6 touchscreen infotainment system, and the new LED tail-lights with an L-shaped pattern part of the life-cycle impulse. Up front there’s also a new set of headlights featuring Bi-LEDs with the familiar circular shape for the LED daytime-running lights. Inside, all new cars get a new instrument cluster that has M-specific content with a 300 km/h (186 mph) speedometer and a 7000 RPM redline. Redesigned wiper and indicator stalks are also noticeable.
Other standard kit for the Pure M2 includes 19-inch M light alloy wheels, an M rear spoiler, quad exhaust tips in chrome, bi-LED headlights with variable light distribution and cornering lights, ‘Dakota’ leather upholstery, carbon-fiber trim inserts, climate control, an M leather multi-function steering wheel, tire pressure monitor, cruise control, rear-view camera with rear parking sensors, and a seven-speaker audio system.
For the standard M2 you also get keyless access, electric seat adjustment, a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive LED headlights, and high beam assistant. As for the prices, the BMW M2 Pure LCI starts at AUD93,300 which represents an increase of AUD3,090. The BMW M2 LCI starts at AUD99,900, which is an increase of AUD790.
