Before the new Rolls Royce Phantom VIII debuted, my personal favorite among the Goodwood stable was the Rolls Royce Wraith. Its massive length, imposing hood and coupe styling made it the best looking Rolls until the brand-spanking-new Phantom was brought to life. Now that the new Phantom is here, though, it would be interesting to see such a coupe like the Wraith with the Phantom VIII’s design language. That’s exactly what we’re seeing here with this Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe render from X-Tomi.
While the Wraith was my favorite Rolls, there were still areas of its design I wasn’t a huge fan of. The way the C-pillar tapered off into the rear deck just seemed odd to me. However, the new C-pillar design on this Phantom Coupe is far better. It looks luxurious, imposing and strong, like a proper Rolls Royce. In fact, I think this Coupe render looks better than the standard car, if you can call any Phantom “standard”.
The rest of the render is pretty much a Phantom. Though, that’s no bad thing. The hood is massive and awesome and the grille is as imposing as ever. There’s a new quarter-window in the A-pillar, which is there for better visibility with the coupe’s seating position.
Admittedly, we don’t foresee Rolls making such a car. When the previous-gen Phantom died, the Coupe and Drophead Coupe along with it, Rolls didn’t really seem as if was going to continue the latter two. It seems as if Rolls Royce is going to create dedicated models for such variants, like the Wraith and Dawn. Personally, I like this idea. I keeps the Phantom the Phantom.
Still, though, it’s cool to see what a Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe would look like and what possibly the next Wraith could look like. And it looks good.
