A new, hot contender joins the midsize sports car segment – Alpine A110

Renault’s Alpine sports brand is relaunching its brand at the upcoming 2017 Geneva Motor Show with a new sports car which aims to take on the lines of Porsche Cayman. The brand dates to the 1950s and achieved motorsports success in the ensuing decades. Its last road car was produced in the 1990s.

Now under Renault and Nissan ownership, Alpine previewed its new sports car last year with the Alpine Vision Concept.

Dubbed A110, the new mid-engined car uses an aluminum chassis with its body panels made of the same lightweight alloys.. Under the hood, it features a turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an output of around 300 horsepower, linked to a double-clutch automatic gearbox. According to Alpine, the A110 runs from zero to sixty time of 4.5 seconds.

Back in December, Alpine started taking pre-orders for the A110 in Europe, but there’s still no word on whether these beauties will make it to America down the line.

The company will reveal full specs at the Geneva Motor Show next week.
