“Before deciding to buy [the BMW M140i], I read a lot of the B58 articles, so you guys helped me also decide [on my purchase] and I am REALLY satisfied, for a 50/50 M is just as serious as a real M,” Amrit, a reader of BMWBLOG, has told us.
While we were glad to help with the decision making process, we were even happier that Amrit decided to take his M140i to the next level and to achieve that, they have reached out to Akrapovic for one of their stellar exhaust systems.
In the process, the BMW M140i was upgraded with the Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust which features a titanium construction and carbon fiber exhaust tips. Compared to the stock exhaust system, the Akrapovic system offers a weight saving of 25.5 lbs for the whole system installed on this vehicle.

The BMW M140i is powered by the new B58 six-cylinder inline powerplant with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology found in the BMW M240i.
The engine delivers a maximum output of 340 horsepower and 368 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque. Thanks to its 8-speed automatic gearbox and rear-wheel drive, the M140i accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds. With an xDrive BMW M140i you will be able to drop that time to just 4.4 seconds – just shy of the BMW M2’s 0-62mph (0-100km/h) time of 4.3 seconds.
To showcase the sound of the new exhaust, Amrit put together a short video showing the exhaust notes through all the RPM and shift changes, in different driving modes.
