The Essen Motor Show started off as a small gathering of German tuners a while back, showcasing their latest products for those interested. Over the years however, the event grew in popularity and these days car makers are attending it to also show their latest offerings to the world. This year BMW is present to present its M Performance Parts portfolio as we’ve already shown you.

Their stand was not just loaded with tricked out cars fitted with splitters and all sorts of carbon fiber bits. It also included a BMW M4 DTM simulator which, as you’re about to see, gave spectators quite a thrill. While most failed to get a noteworthy result, there was one person in attendance that was able to hold his own against the simulator.

Martin Tomczyk jumped behind the wheel to try out the virtual world and compare it to the real one. After all, he is the one that drove the BMW M4 DTM M Performance Parts car in this season of the DTM, there’s nobody better to sit inside the perfect replica brought out for the Essen Motor Show.

Unfortunately, after a career spanning over 16 seasons, Martin decided to leave the German championship this year. The BMW Team Schnitzer driver decided to remain a part of the BMW Motorsport family and is now on other competitions on an international scale. The 34-year old won a title in 2011 and an impressive CV which includes several wins. Only eight other drivers in the history of the DTM have competed in more races than the man from Rosenheim.
