One of the most iconic 3 Series to date is the E46 chassis and especially one particular model – the 330ci. Today’s “The Driveway” features a 330ci hailing from Canada, in pristine condition and beautiful just as it was fifteen years ago. The BMW M54 3.0 Liter engine is the powerhouse behind the 330ci. It makes 225 hp @ 5900 rpm and 214 ft-lbs @ 3500 rpm, while paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
Your Name: Jordan Blondin
Your Car (year/make/model): 2001/BMW/330ci
Time of Ownership: 2 years
What made you buy it?: I have absolutely loved BMWs ever since I was a young boy. Always told me dad how much I wanted to save and get a E46 M3. As I grew older and the time to buy a car came around. I set a more realistic goal for a first car. I had been working all year in Fort st John B.C Canada and saved up $8,000. I set my eyes on a beautiful 330ci residing in Vancouver B.C. painted in a astounding carbon black. My father and I drove about 14 hours to go and pick up my very first car. I have never had a feeling quite like the first time I drove that car.
Things you like: The handling was phenomenal. I couldn’t believe the way the car just hugged corners so well at high speeds. Hitting every apex perfectly. I love the response of the engine. The beautiful exhaust note of the screaming 3L inline 6. It’s a rush I would never throw away.
Things you’d change: Honestly, nothing.
Modifications Done: x line Oz rims wrapped in Nokian sport tires. 1 inch lowering springs. A few minor visual upgrades. Other than that it is very stock for now under the hood.
Any Adventures?: I have taken it on numerous trips to Vancouver with my girlfriend and best friends. Night driving down Granville street was a night to remember. Taken it to a ski resort and had some fun in the snow with the local car Club.
Costs: Mainly maintenance as well as fuel pump, valve cover gasket’ ccrankshaft sensor. Common e46 problems I was expecting.
What’s Next (Next car, next adventure, etc.)?: I want to take a cross Canada trip next year with my girlfriend and I.
