After about three years, it is time for an M4 facelift. In 2017, BMW will refresh its highest sold M car and will arrive in the US as a 2018 model year. In addition to optical changes in the M4 GTS style or the M4 CS released in Spain, the drive of the sport coupe is also revised. Under the hood, the M4 will continue to use the same S55 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine, but instead of the 425 hp (431 PS in Europe), the facelifted M4 will now produce 450 horsepower, essentially the same power output as the M4 with the optional and costly Competition Package.
There is virtually no secret that the S55 powerplant is capable of producing more horsepower than the current version, so by adding a power increase, the M4 Coupe and Convertible will continue to be a favorite among BMW fans.
Recent spy photos have shown the facelifted M4 with a new set of headlights and taillights. At the rear, the test mule was wearing an M Performance spoiler tucked away under some camouflage. The camouflaged rear end also hides OLED taillights.
Furthermore, all the M4 test mules are wearing the Competition Package 20″ Style 666M wheels.
With all the upgrades, the LCI M4 Coupe and Convertible will likely receive a price increase as well, but that will be determined closer to the launch by the individual markets.
