When it comes to Rolls-Royce cars, tuning the high-end luxury items is probably one of the hardest things to do. Changing the appearance of a car is an easy process, but achieving that balanced look that compliments the original design is a total different ball game.
The guys from Phantom Motorsport took a stab at it and the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe we have below might just make the cut.
If you’re a Rolls-Royce owner, chances are you won’t be willing to tune your car. The Goodwood-based company is already offering so many customization options that you don’t need a tuner to get what you want. However, the fact that there are tuners out there offering kits for these cars, says a lot. There’s definitely a market for it.
The Wald International group launched its Black Bison kit for the Drophead Coupe a couple of years back. Initially, most people didn’t think much of it but today, looking at it on a black on black Rolls it doesn’t seem as ridiculous as it did at first. Somehow, it works and some of the credit can be attributed to the custom wheels. They are Forgiato F2.15-M in gloss black measuring no less than 24″, fitted with custom Rolls-Royce center caps.
As for the car’s performance, things are unchanged. Under the hood of the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe hides a 6.75-liter V12 making 460 HP and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque. Those figures might seem low on a car that weighs 2.7 tons but you should know it’s no slouch. The 0-62 mph (100km/h) sprint, for example, is dealt with in 5.9 seconds. Not that anyone would use this luxury cruiser for drag racing anyway.
