One of the meanest power upgrades you can get for your 2016 BMW X5 M comes from Germany, from the guys over at Manhart Racing. The engineers that also brought us the brilliant MINI JCW with 300 HP are responsible for putting together 700 HP uber-SUVs that dominate German highways these days. One of their Manhart MHX5 700 models was brought along for a video shoot and the result can be seen below.

If you do decide to go to Manhart Racing for one of their kits you should know that they can cater to a wide variety of tastes. For example, their top of the range tune that doesn’t involve a turbo upgrade can take your X5 M up to 700 HP and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. That may be a bit too much for some people, both in terms of performance and pricing, as it costs 3,568 Euros ($4,000).

For those people there’s the MHTronik plug and play module that will get the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 up from 575 HP and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) of torque to a more decent 656 HP and 861 Nm (635 lb-ft) of torque, not an absurd amount but enough to give you the edge. For those looking for the ultimate challenge, the Stage 2 Performance kit should do the trick, raising the power output to 800 HP and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque but also coming with two new turbos and a price tag of 15,111 Euros ($17,000).

Of course, as any true German tuner does these days, you can also get visual improvements for your car from Manhart, as you can see fitted on the MHX5 700 in the video below. From wheels to exhaust tips and interior trims, nearly everything’s on the table bringing not only improved looks but also better performance in most cases.
