Manual V10-Powered BMW E46 M3 Up for Grabs

BMW-M3-3

The BMW E46 M3 will celebrate its 20th anniversary, but still feels on par with the times, at least from the design point of view. That speaks tons about how good the car was and explains the love the E46 M3 receives from the car community, even nearly two decades after it was launched.

Apart from its design, the performance and fun you can have while behind its wheel is also a contributing factor. In standard form, the E46 M3 features a 3.2-liter straight six S54 engine which was once considered one of the best engines in the world. But what if you’re looking for more power? The first option is usually an aftermarket tune which will give that extra oomph, or you can go the extra mile and just do an engine swap.

Under the hood of this M3 now hides the monster that used to power the E60 M5, also known among fans of the brand as S85. That’s a 5-liter V10 naturally aspirated mill created with F1 know-how that could rev up to 8,750 RPM and delivered up to 507 HP and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to it, the E60 M5 was and still is regarded a proper missile on wheels with four comfortable seats.

What makes this E46 M3 even more interesting is the 6-speed gearbox borrowed from an E92 M3 to be able to cope with the extra power. That being said, we imagine driving this thing must be quite an experience. An experience you can have buy now since it’s up for grabs on eBay for £30,000 ($44,473).
