We recently learned that BMW would indeed be developing an M2 Gran Coupe by 2019. BMW fans have been begging for a Gran Coupe variant of the 2 Series every since its inception a few years ago. BMW’s first ever Gran Coupe, an iteration of the 6 Series, is still a stunning car, one that could be the best looking BMW on the road. So naturally, fans wanted BMW to give the favorite 2 Series similar treatment, especially the M2. So it seems as if the Bavarians have heard our calls and are willing to give us the BMW M2 Gran Coupe we’ve been asking for.
However, aside from the fact that it should be coming out in 2019, we have no other information on such a car. We don’t really know hat it’s going to look like, even though we can take a pretty good guess, being that we’ve now seen two Gran Coupe iterations from BMW, the 6 Series and 4 Series.
Well the folks at Top Speed have decided to take a shot at rendering what the BMW M2 Gran Coupe will look like and it’s probably pretty spot on. What they’ve basically done is take the BMW M2 and just extended its current roofline and body lines to accommodate four doors. If there’s any deviation from this render, it’ll probably just be the roofline being a bit sleeker and more “coupe-like”, similar to the way the 4 Series GC is. However, this is most likely very close to hat the actual car will look like.
The BMW M2 is a great looking car as it is, one of the more exciting cars to come from Bavarian in a long time. Its short, stubby body with its massive wheel arches and fender flares give it a bulldog-like stance that’s just so damn cool. The addition of four doors in a Gran Coupe-like fashion should only make it better looking, considering such treatment has done just that for both the 4 and 6 Series.
If the BMW M2 Gran Coupe can get better looking while adding more practicality, it would be almost impossible to beat as an all around package by either any of its competitors or any other car from BMW.
