After several BMW i executives left the company to join a newly formed Chinese EV startup, two former Tesla executives are following suit. According to Electrek, the two executives joining the Future Mobility Corp, backed by Tencent Holdings to form a new management are Stephen Ivsan and Marc Duchesne. Both were higher-up figures in Tesla Motors. This marks yet another “poaching” of high-profile executives by the mysterious Chinese automaker.
Former BMW i executive Carsten Breitfeld will become the new CEO of Future Mobility, joined by Dirk Abendroth who developed electric powertrains, Benoit Jacob, former head of design at BMW i, and Henrik Wenders, head of BMW i product management.
According to his LinkedIn profile, Stephen Ivsan held a position within supply chain. Ivsan is also an 11-year veteran of Continental who held several positions at Tesla for the past four years – all in supply chain. He joined Future Mobility Corp as vice-president of supply chain just last week. He describes his role on his profile: “Lead for all Direct and Indirect Material Purchasing, Supplier Quality as well as Inbound and Outbound Logistics.”
A few weeks before him, the other executive to leave Tesla was March Duchesne who also held supply chain roles. Duchesne, a 22 year veteran at Toyota, joined Tesla Motors in 2011 where he worked in several roles and held different positions, more recently as “Director of Manufacturing” and “Director – Supply Chain Manufacturing & Assembly Project Engineering”.
Not much is known about Future Mobility Corp, only that they are backed by Tencent Holdings. They became known to the general public when the company successfully raised $500,000,000 to fund an electric supercar from China. Recently, they hired a former Cisco and Motorola CTO Padmarsee Warrior, to be the man in charge of their U.S. operations.
