It seems like even the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is now eligible to be built in a special edition guise, as the German brand celebrates its centenary. BMW Japan decided to offer the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Celebration Edition Fashionista for its customers, a gift if you will, for those that are not afraid of a front-wheel drive Bavarian machine.
This week we’ve seen a couple of special edition versions going around on the internet, from the 600 HP M6 Celebration Edition to the Protonic Red BMW i8, all of them built in limited numbers with the M6 being the rarest, as only 13 units are scheduled for production. At the other end of the spectrum lies the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer Fashionista of which 400 units will be built.
Based on the 218i version of the Active Tourer, the Fashionista Active Tourer sets itself apart from other Celebration Edition models, by allowing customers to choose their preferred color for the car’s body between Alpine White, Flamenco Red and Imperial Blue with brilliant effect. Step inside the cabin and you’ll be greeted by ‘Fashionista’ badges, Canberra Beige Sensatec upholstery and Fineline wood trims with Pearl accents.
As far as the optional features included in the mix go, BMW decided to fit all Fashionista Celebration Edition models with Park Distance Control (PDC), rear view cameras, automatic tailgates, Comfort Access and the Japanese Plus Package that includes fog lamps and automatic air conditioning. Sales of the 136 horsepower MPV will start on June 11, earlier than all the other bespoke versions, for a price tag that kicks off at 3,980,000 Japanese Yen or $35,000 at today’s exchange rates. Considering this is a limited run version (even if it is a 2 Series Active Tourer) the price is actually attractive.
