It seems like this year Japanese fans of the BMW brand will have plenty of reasons to rejoice, with the local branch of the Bavarian company launching multiple special edition models to celebrate the centenary of the blue and white roundel. The latest to be unveiled to the world is the BMW 7 Series Celebration Edition that joins the likes of the M6, i8 and 330e Celebration Edition models.
Just like the others, the 7 Series Celebration Edition will be built in limited numbers, only 70 of them being put up for sale. And if you’re wondering what sets them apart from the rest of the crowd, you should know that all will be coming dressed in Individual Azurite Black with 20″ Individual 649I styling forged wheels as well as Design Pure Excellence exterior line, to be able to tell them apart from a distance.
Step inside and you’ll be greeted by the extended Merino leather in Caramel all around the cabin, Alcantara roof lining done in the same color, Piano Black trims for the dash and an Individual door sill plate that will remind everyone (as if it was necessary) that this is no ordinary 7 Series. As far as optional features go, all BMW 7 Series Celebration Edition models will come with the Bowers & Wilkins sound system, Remote Parking feature, Ambient Air and Rear Comfort Package plus that includes massaging seats for the passengers as well as a panoramic sunroof.
Under the hood you’ll find that the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 used for all 750Li models remained unchanged, still delivering 450 HP and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque and sending the limousine up to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.5 seconds. Sales of the 70 limited-run Celebration Edition models will kick off on July 9 for the starting price of 18,800,000 Japanese Yen. At today’s exchange rates that adds up to roughly $170,000.
