2020 BMW M8 Convertible Gets Rendered Rather Accurately

We’re now just days away from seeing the brand new BMW 8 Series Convertible revealed online, before making its world debut in front of a live audience at the LA Auto Show. The new drop top from BMW will definitely receive a warm welcome but what we’re all most interested in is the M version, namely the BMW M8 Convertible. We know it’s going to happen as BMW is no longer shy to talk about it, and even high-ranking officials have confirmed the news a number of times.

Considering how the design of BMW models evolved in recent years, automotive renderers can now make educated guesses as to how the new M8 will look like and the rendering we’re showing you today isn’t far off what the production car will look like. The picture, courtesy of JB Cars, shows the rear end of the M8 Convertible, with its four tailpipes and the roof folded, for maximum ‘Wow’ effect. The car also received the trademark M side mirrors, we all love and have gotten used to.

It’s quite obvious that the car he used as a basis for this rendering was the M850i but unlike the M Performance model, the M8 has no reflectors on the rear bumper but bigger air vents for better air flow at higher speeds. Speaking of which, the boot lid also got a spoiler, something that may happen on the production car but a bit better integrated into the boot’s overall shape. The diffuser in between the tailpipes also won’t be as aggressive as shown here.

The BMW M8 Convertible will probably arrive next year. After the 8 Series Convertible is unveiled later this week, the M8 Coupe will be released later on, providing insight into what all the other M models will bring to the table in the 8 Series range. Under the hood of all M8 models we’ll find a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with over 600 HP, all of which being sent to the corners of the car via the same M xDrive system from the M5.
