The current BMW M3 has been criticized when it was first launched because of its playful rear axle. One of the reason for the happy tail is the turbocharged engine which delivers its torque rather abruptly compared to the atmospheric units M cars used to have, and that baffled some people. To some extent, their complaints were justified but then again, we are talking about just 430 HP. What would happen if the same car were to be taken up to 700 HP?
The guys from Pure Turbos got to work as soon as the new M3 and M4 models were launched. Their goal was to put together a set of turbochargers that would replace the stock ones and take the power output of the S55 3-liter twin-turbo engine up to considerably higher heights. Their end result, after years of fine tuning is now claiming 700 HP out of the straight six mill. That’s achieved using new, bigger turbos that are claimed to spool up faster than the stock ones.
Furthermore, according to the video description, they can be adjusted using your phone which implies the inclusion of a Wi-Fi module which would allow you to adjust the level of boost produced. To showcase their creation, the guys from Pure Turbos took part in a drag racing event organized by SCC500. Luckily for them, the races were all done from a rolling start which definitely helped keep skids in check.
In the end, the M3 seemed to trample over everything that was thrown at it. Starting with going up against a Nissan GT-R to a Porsche 911 Turbo, various Corvettes, a Ferrari and even what looks like an E63 AMG T-Modell, the 700 HP seems to best all of them. Unfortunately, we don’t have footage from the finish line but we can make assumptions regarding who won by the footage we have at hand. Nevertheless, this thing is blazing fast and it’s quite impressive how the driver manages to keep the power in check with his right foot.
