Today I have a brand new action called "Enchanted Woods". This action creates a cool and moody edit as it makes the greens more blue and removes yellow tints, slightly darkens the image, and allows you to do a custom contrast adjustment. This can be a really gorgeous edit on outdoor image/portraits with lots of greenery.
I have step-by-step instructions posted below.
Original images used in this post (woman, man, flowers, girl in white shirt, baby shoes, man and dog).
CoffeeShop "Enchanted Woods" Photoshop/PSE Action Tutorial:
Run "Enchanted Woods" and adjust the contrast when the Levels adjustment comes up. It is preset for a slight matte-effect, but you can adjust the sliders under the curve and the left black "Output Levels" slider to add more contrast.
I also often move the right white "Output Levels" slider slightly to the left to tone down the whites.
After the action runs adjust each layer to taste. The first adjustment I did for this image was turn down the "Darken Shadows" layer to 25% and use a soft black brush on the layer mask to remove it from the center of the image. This adds a slight vignette effect.
I turned down the Desaturate layer to 50%.
I painted the "Remove yellows" layer off the woman. If you have anything yellow in your image such as flowers that you wish to keep yellow, you will want to turn off this layer or paint it off. I usually remove it from skin and lower the opacity to 50% or so.
Finally, I clicked on the "Enchanted Woods" layer and used a soft black low-opacity brush and removed some of it off her hair. This added some pretty highlights. You might want to remove some off skin too if needed
I hope you enjoy my newest action! And I would love to see some of your before/afters on my Facebook page.
