Lamborghini Huracan is a certified supercar. Coming in to replace the Gallardo, the Huracan is currently the most popular Lamborghini on sale. Its performance figures as well as its looks are making it a hot seller and a terrifying car to go up against on a drag strip. What chance could a BMW E30 M3 have against it, right? Well, this particular M3 is not, by any means, a normal one in the first place.
This M3 dropped the S14 engine it came with to get a bit more oomph under its hood. What that means is that now you’ll find a 5-liter V10 engine driving the rear wheels, known by enthusiasts by its codename: S85. That’s right, this M3 owner managed to squeeze the legendary engine from the E60 M5 into the engine bay of an E30 M3. Furthermore, according to its owner, a power bump was also included in the mix, taking the total output of the engine up to around 535 HP.
With this ‘small’ change, the Bimmer now has more in common with the Lambo than you may think. The Huracan is also powered by a V10 engine, a 5.2-liter one to be more precise, good for some 610 HP. So the Lambo has more power on its side, added traction due to its all-wheel drive system and a super-fast 7-speed DCT gearbox working for it. Could the BMW still keep up?
The video below will answer that question and it’s interesting to note that even though the Italian thoroughbred won, the Bavarian machine managed to stay really close, considering it’s a manual and doesn’t have complicated electronics to help keep the power in check. Of course that the M3 is lighter which also helped its case, but as did the fact that the race was done from a rolling start. But even so, we can’t help but be impressed with how fast that car really is.
