Last month at the Los Angeles Auto Show BMW announced the i8 Spyder. The much-awaited open-top version of the popular hybrid sports car provides a new experience for the eco-friendly motorists. The vehicle is packed with the same level of performance and handling prowess as its coupe sibling. On the other hand, the already out, BMW i8 Coupe, is still drawing attention anywhere it goes. With its somewhat quirky design language, the BMW i8 gives us an interesting look into the future of high-performance motoring.
While only a hybrid, the i8 is a step forward in the evolution of the sports car, which will – somewhere down the road – produce a fully electric supercar by the Bavarian car maker. The BMW i8 comes with a powerful powertrain and impressive fuel economy. Developed especially for this model, the powertrain is a combination of a 1.5 liter three-cylinder petrol engine and electric motors, powering all four wheels. The combustion engine develops 170 kW/231 hp and drives the rear wheels of the BMW i8.
Furthermore, there is a 96 kW/131 hp electric drive as well, sending its power to the front wheels and allowin for an all-electric range of up to 35 kilometers (22 miles) and a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph). Thanks to this powertrain combination, the BMW i8 will accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 4.2 seconds. The hybrid is capable of going all the way up to an electronically limited top speed of 155mph (250km/h).
Hence, it’s no wonder that ADV.1 Wheels decided to use one to show off their all-new Advanced Series aftermarket wheels.
The Advanced Series by ADV.1 feature contemporary designs matched with improved back-pocketing, resulting in excess material removal and improved weight reduction. Additionally, the wheels feature complete titanium hardware, giving the wheels an even more improved weight profile overall. For this BMW i8, the wheel company added a set of ADV510 Track Spec Advanced Series wheels.
The wheels come sized 22×9 and 22×10.5 in the front and rear, respectively. Matching the Sophisto Gray Metallic w/ BMW iElectric Blue accent finish combination found on the car, the wheels feature a similar color scheme: the front face is finished in a Fine Textured Gunmetal finish, while the lips feature Polished Matte Blue accents, giving them an intricate overall look.
