Last year, to celebrate 25 years of BMW Individual excellence, BMW joined forces with Nautor’s Swan, one of the most iconic sailing boatyards in the world. They put together a truly bespoke model under the Individual Manufaktur umbrella, featuring expertise from both the automotive world and the nautical one. In the end, the M760i they created was presented to the world as a testament of what’s possible when you truly want a unique car.
It was that exact model the Germans decided to use to showcase exactly what you can get if you really want your BMW to stand out in the crowd. The video posted below explains the painstaking details that went into the making of such a car. In the case of the Nautor’s Swan BMW, the Finnish company produced some elements for this special model by hand at their workshop in western Finland. These include teak panels with joints filled precisely with a fine layer of rubber which allow the wood to expand and contract with the temperature.
That’s particularly needed for the deck on a yacht, but could also come in handy in a car. That’s just one example of the sort of thing you can ask to be installed in your new car, something that people don’t usually think it’s possible. The interior trims, entry sills and floor mats are also made with teak and have been produced by Nautor’s Swan. The Finnish brand’s insignia is noticeable around the cabin and even on the outside, signaling this is no ordinary BMW.
The cooperation between the two brands is apparent to those paying attention to details on the exterior as well. The brake calipers on the BMW Individual M760Li, which are exclusively finished in the same color as the car, each bear a raised Swan logo, which is manufactured in an extra procedure. All of these exclusive items were fitted to the show car but the most important thing is that you can also ask for such unique finishes, according to your own preferences, to make sure your car is truly unique.
