BMW Motorrad getting a new CEO

BMW Motorrad will very soon be headed up by someone new. This news comes as the company is currently being led temporarily by Hubert Kühner. Kühner, however, is planning to retire this coming April.

Prior to being under provisional leadership, the motorcycle arm of the Bavarian brand was under the purview of Stephan Schaller. Schaller ascended to the top position at BMW Motorrad on June 1st, 2012. During his tenure, he oversaw significant, record breaking growth, as well as the introduction of controversial models, like the Indian built G 310 R. He has since accepted a position to lead the management team at Voith GmbH & Co. KGaA, in Heidenheim.

With big shoes to fill, Dr. Markus Schramm will assume the position on May 1st, 2018. Schramm, whom is fifty-five years old, is not new to the BMW Group however. He has held various positions within the company, but is most importantly described by BMW as being, “a passionate motorcyclist.”

Schaller, whilst on the job, set forth very ambitious sales targets for BMW Motorrad. Seeking to reach a volume of 200,000 units per annum. Schramm will benefit greatly from the momentum which Schaller has generated, but will hopefully be able to make Schaller’s dream a reality.
