According to registration papers released by a New York auctioneer, a BMW 3.0 which once belonged to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in her post-Camelot days is up for sale at $295,00. The 1974 green BMW 3.0 — the former first lady’s wheels from 1974 to 1992 — is now sitting in a Fort Myers, Fla., garage with 75,000 miles on it, said Peter Siegel of online auctioneer Gotta Have It!
Jackie O had the car during her years living on the Upper East Side, and used it primarily to shuttle her family to their estate in Peapack, NJ.
The current owner is now the third to hold title to the historic wheels since Jackie sold them to a New Jersey collector in 1992. It’s been in the hands of a Michigan couple and now this Florida woman, according to Siegel.
“I’m not using it as much,” said the 70-year-old Florida woman. “Someone, who would enjoy it for the history and symbolism, should have it.” While also adding that “She held the country together in a very dark time with her grace under fire.”
The car has new a air conditioner, radio and upholstery, according to sellers.
