2017 MINI Countryman Configurator Goes Online, Prices Start at €26,500

The title of the biggest MINI ever put into production now goes to the Countryman, after sweeping it from the Clubman model which was also recently unveiled. However, the price difference between the two isn’t as big as their sheer size, as the configurator for the Countryman that went online this week proves. Prices for the SAV, as MINI likes to call it, start at €26,500 in Germany.

The cheapest model you can get is the base Cooper version which comes with a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged engine making 136 HP. If you’re thinking that may not be enough for a car this big, you can pick the Cooper D model if you live in Germany, as it comes with a perfect mix of power and frugality thanks to its 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine with 150 HP. Prices for this version start at €28,500 but they can rise quite fast if you’re not careful about the boxes you tick.

In case you want the ALL4 all-wheel drive system, you’ll have to be prepared to pay €2,000 extra, regardless of the model. You can get it even on the base Cooper model even though it will add a few more kilos to the mix. However, all-wheel drive might make sense on the Cooper SD version that has 190 HP and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque going to the wheels, plenty ever for a big car such as the Countryman.

Unfortunately, diesel versions won’t be available in the US for the Countryman, instead the North American market having to rely on the good old fashion Cooper, Cooper S and JCW models later down the line. The US configurator isn’t online either but you’ll be able to set up your car to your exact specifications if you visit a dealer, in case you just can’t wait anymore.
