Video: Augusto Farfus Goes Round the Ring in a BMW M4 DTM in 6:14

Doing the Nurburgring in 6:14 might seem incredibly fast to some, but there is a trick to it – behind the wheel of a racing car.  Therefore, any comparison with a road-going model doesn’t stand for a number of reasons. And yet, when looking at the footage below of a BMW M4 DTM going round the Ring, you can’t help but wonder how much faster it could’ve been if the driver would’ve taken things more seriously.

The man behind the wheel is no other than BMW DTM driver Augusto Farfus who’s known to be quite a jovial guy all the time. As you can see in the video, he’s doing this 6:14 lap time extremely relaxed, even high-fiving his passenger, probably to calm him down and keep him relaxed as well. Not only that but Farfus is also commenting on his performance and throwing his fist in the air, all to show the world how much fun he’s having.

The video was shot with an impressive number of cameras and was done using the Team MTEK M4 that Augusto drives in the German Touring Championship for their sponsor – Shell – that’s promoting its new Helix oil. The 480 HP and a weight of just 2,600 pounds can easily explain this mind boggling lap time that seems dangerously close to the unofficial record on the Green Hell set by Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 in 1983 of 6:11.13.

And with Augusto in full-attack mode, we’re pretty sure that could be done, as he’s one of the DTM drivers that knows the Nurburgring by heart, having competed here in a number of occasions. The Brazilian races here in the DTM championship and in the World Touring Championship.
