The world is not a high-gloss brochure and even cars like the new BMW G30 5 Series often look a bit different in reality than on the first official photos. Bimmertoday’s reader Todor has now caught the upper-class sedan in Munich and made some photos for us that show the seventh BMW 5 Series without artificial post-processing and in an everyday environment. The live photos show a BMW 530d xDrive with the Luxury Line and thus a configuration, which is of particular relevance for many customers in Europe.
Thanks to the close up photos, we can now get a closer look at details such as the closed slats on the kidney grille – for aerodynamic reasons, the daytime running lights of the full LED headlights or the transition between the hood and kidneys. And because this G30 5 Series is already on winter tires, we see the sedan also for the first time on smaller diameter wheels.
Compared to its predecessor, the BMW G30 530d xDrive has become lighter by 95 kilograms, thus demonstrating the strength of the lightweight range of the new 5 Series. Its 265 horsepower from a straight-six-cylinder diesel offers a maximum torque of 620 Newton meters between 2,000 and 2,500 rpm accelerating the upper-class sedan to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
The further 55 kilogram lighter 530d sedan with rear wheel drive requires three tenths of a second for the same exercise, but benefits from its overall low-friction drivetrain when consuming. The EU consumption of the G30 530d is between 4.5 and 4.9 liters per 100 kilometers, depending on the tire size. The all-wheel drive variant 530d xDrive comes at 5.0 to 5.4 liters. Both models are electronically braked at 250 km/h.
The prices for the top diesel start in Germany at 54,300 euros, the xDrive model is available from 56,900 euros.
