BMW M2 Facelifted Prototype spotted in Germany

BMW’s M2 has only been out for less than a year, but judging by the latest spy photos, it’s already getting ready for a refresh. The photo was snapped by a member of the 2ertalk.de forum, near the Leipzig plant where the M2 is being manufactured. Unfortunately there is only one image which gives a look at the rear end where BMW seems to have made some changes.

There is the usual camouflage tape which now partially covers the taillights’ graphics, as well as the diffuser. The front end is also said to have featured some camouflage, likely hiding the headlights and lower fascia.

According to sources, for model year 2018, the M2 will get the usual BMW Life Cycle Impulse. Production is rumored to kick off in Summer 2017 at the same plant in Leipzig. Additionally, BMW is also planning a CS version of the M2 – which in fact could be the car tested here considering the size of the tailpipes which indicate a new and louder exhaust system.

The BMW M2 has been proven to be extremely popular among enthusiasts and the production lines in Leipzig are working at full capacity to deliver to customers from around the world. In some countries, the waiting time spans across multiple months. In the U.S., the 2016 BMW M2 is available at authorized BMW centers starting at $51,700 plus Destination and Handling.
