Pat Murray and Alan Dowling lead the einster Over 30’s Amateur Open Championship with a round to go but they will have Carlow man John Greene hunting them down.

Wily campaigner Murray added a sensational 66 to his opening 73, coming home in 31 to lead the way on one under par alongside Hermitage man Dowling (68-71) with the local hope Greene tucked in just two behind.

Raw, no doubt, from his painful 19th hole defeat to David Foy in the third round of the South, Greene followed a 70 with a 71, closing with two birdies to share third with Hermitage's Brian O'Connor Jnr on one over 141.

Left-hander Mark Shanahan sits alone in fifth on two over with former South and East of Ireland winner Jim Carvill still a factor, just five off the pace after a pair of 72.
