By now, there’s really not much to learn about the new G05 BMW X5. It’s been tested and reviewed countless times now, so there’s not much more you need to know. However, if you want to get a closer look at its interior and some of its “quirks and features”, this new video from More Doug DeMuro can help.
In this video, we get to see a lot of the new BMW X5, both inside and out. Some of the features that he touches on are those that a typical review wouldn’t exactly show or tell us about. For instance, he points out the design of the dome lights and how they match the design on the dead pedal. Also, the “X5” badge is now below the taillights for the first time on an X5. Not hugely significant stuff but if you’re looking to buy an X5 it might be interesting info.
He also gets the BMW X5 on the road and drives it. While More Doug’s driving impressions are brief, he does mention that its steering is significantly sharper than in other SUVs in the class. It’s obviously no sports car but its steering, stability and capability are beyond what you’ll find in most other large SUVs.
This new BMW X5 is a great SUV, one that looks good, has an excellent interior and class-leading technology. It also handles well enough that someone who’s used to driving a sports car won’t be disappointed when they have to use it as a family-mobile. Also, the X5 xDrive40i, the B58 3.0 liter turbo-I6-powered version, is probably the one to have. While it isn’t as fast as the xDrive50i, it’s more than fast enough for an SUV of its size. Plus, unless you’re looking for an X5 M, the extra speed of the V8-powered versions is likely not going to be worth the extra cost.
