Ok, we all know that BMWs can get a bit crazy with options. The Bavarians are known for a sort of a la carte style of optioning cars, allowing customers to really tailor their car to their liking. While this can be good for customization, it’s bad for price tags. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen option inflation as egregious as on this specific Rose-colored Individual BMW 328d Sports Wagon.
At Century West BMW in California, this 2017 BMW 328d Sports Wagon comes equipped with BMW’s Individual Rose Quartz Metallic paint work that costs $5,000 on its own. That’s just the tipping point of an options list that totals about $37,000, giving this rose-colored wagon a final price tag of $82,272. That’s right, for about the price of a BMW 640i Gran Coupe or 740i, you can have a four-cylinder diesel 3 Series with some rose paint. Sounds like a good deal, right?
But, you might be saying “well, it has more options than just paint.” And that’s true, it also comes with 20″ Style 405M M-Performance wheels, which are $4,000, Harman & Kardon speakers, wireless Apple CarPlay, an M Performance steering wheel and enough carbon fiber trim throughout the cabin to make Ferrari say “Please, that’s enough”.
I’m curious if this was a car that a customer ordered and then backed out of or something the dealer decided might sell. I’m really not sure how such a ridiculous car comes to life but if anyone buys it, they should get a free subscription to a psychologist.
