Castle's Robert Moran and Mallow's Edward Walsh carded two-under 70s to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Leinster Boys Amateur Open at Headfort's New Course.
The duo lead on one-under 143 from Lisburn's Aaron Marshall, who also shot a joint-best of the day 70 at the Kells venue.
Elm Park's Charlie Denvir shot a 72 and shares fourth on two-over 146 with Laytown and Bettystown's Alex Maguire (75) and joint overnight leader Cameron Raymond from Newlands, who shot a 76.
Dundalk's Eoin Murphy, who reached the last 16 of the West of Ireland Championship last week, shot the only other sub-par round of the day with a 70 leaving him five shots off the lead in tied ninth.
The cut for the top 39 and ties fell at 10-over par 154 which meant that Limerick's Sean Enwright, the other joint leader after round one, squeaked in after an 84.
Joint leader Moran has had a busy few days, helping Ireland to victory in the recent Quadrangular Matches in Wales before reaching the second round of the West of Ireland Championship at County Sligo.
Moran was also the winner in the recent Faldo Series Ireland Championship at Lough Erne.
In the Under 17 section of the championship at Headfort, Walsh leads by two from Marshall on one-under with Denvir and Maguire tied third.
