It happened to the best of us.
We go out to dinner or shopping. We park the car in a large parking lot where we often forget to memorize the row and number. Then at the end of the night, the car is nowhere to be found. Thoughts start running through your mind, from the car being towed to being stolen, everything is fair game at that point.
But this man from Scotland has beaten us all. The man borrowed his friend’s BMW to go to a concert in Manchester, UK. As the Manchester Evening News reports, the driver drove from Scotland and parked the borrowed BMW at a City Centre car park, and walked over to Etihad Stadium to take in the show.
Afterwards, he returned to retrieve the car but realized that he’d forgotten which structure he had parked in. After five days of futile searching and countless calls and emails to the City Council and various parking and towing companies, the owner and his embarrassed friend called it quits and reported the vehicle as lost/stolen to police. That was in August 2016.
And then a post-Christmas miracle.
The Greater Manchester police found the car on December 30 when they tweeted: “Officers have found a car in a multi-storey lost since June; driver visiting city parked it but couldn’t remember where. We can’t imagine what the ticket machine is going to say when they finally put the ticket in — £££££££££££££££££££££££££££££.”
