As the BMW M2 continues to impress everyone out there, be it media representatives or just owners, reviewers are trying hard to pit it against more and more diverse competition. The traditional rivals of the M2 include the CLA45 AMG (or the A45 AMG) and the Audi RS3 but what about an Alfa Romeo product? Well, since the line-up of the Italian brand is quite limited these days, the 4C should fit the job description.
In case you’re not an avid fan of Alfa Romeo, the 4C is one of their latest creations, a car that was put together with the sole purpose of satisfying those hardcore driving enthusiasts out there. It has a carbon fiber chassis like some of the supercars out there, a small 1.75-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine making 240 HP and does very well without things that make your life comfortable.
For example, you don’t get heated seats in the Alfa or even power steering as the car was created to be as light as possible. Navigation? Forget about it. You’ll be lucky to get an Alpine CD player and that’s about it. This thing was put together to be as agile as the engineers could muster and it does, indeed, tip the scale at just a bit over 1,000 kg (2,200 lbs).
And while that may seem like heaven to some, it really is the biggest fault of the Alfa. Lacking all those things turns this beautiful car into a weekend driver and for that you can get better cars for the same amount of money. Sure, you’re connected to the road and everything but the ride is unforgiving and it will become tiresome to drive this thing after a while.
At the other end of the spectrum we have the BMW M2. Fitted with a 3-liter engine, the baby M car does weigh considerably more but, thanks to its extra power and intelligent electronics on board, it can be just as fun. Sure, as the guys point out in the video, it can’t match the Alfa’s direct steering feel but then again, you can actually use that car on a daily basis, so you’re not missing out on much. That said, let’s take a look at the video and see what car’s come out on top.
