Ardglass professional Cormac Sharvin made a big move in the right direction when he fired a three under 69 to remain comfortably inside the top 21 and ties who will progress from Section A qualifier at The Roxburgh to the Second Stage of the European Tour Qualifying School.
The former Walker Cup and Brabazon Trophy winner moved up three spots to tied 12th at the Kelso venue on five under par — three inside the top 21, who are on two under or better.
Naas amateur Conor O'Rourke, the St Andrews Links Trophy winner this year. can still make it in Friday's final round after he made one eagle, one birdie and two bogeys in a 71 that leaves him three shots outside top 21 and ties on one over.
The 54-hole cut fell at five over 221 which meant Royal County Down's Reeve Whitson (71 79 72) missed out by one shot with Killeen Castle's Rick Weldon (73 74 76) a shot further back.
Clontarf PGA professional Eamonn Brady (72 81 72) missed the cut by four.
At Fleesensee in Germany, the other Section A qualifier, Mount Juliet's Stephen Grant made an eagle, three birdies and two bogeys in a two under 70 and lies tied 26th on one under, just two shots outside the top 19 and ties who progress to the Second Stage
