Every BMW fan loves an Alpina. The German tuner/manufacturer has been creating some of the most impressive BMWs in the world for decades now. Any BMW fan would e more than happy to own an Alpina, as it would give them a car that’s so very different from every other BMW owner’s car. It would be an Alpina and that makes it special.

Well, if you’re in the market for an older classic and want an Alpina, you’re in luck. This 1986 BMW Alpina C2 2.5 is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer and its current bid is cheap.

Based on the E30-generation BMW 325i, the Alpina C2 2.5 used the same 2.5 liter naturally-aspirated I6 engine, but developed 185 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. Alpina claimed 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds back in the ’80s, which was pretty darned good. Top speed was good for 136 mph. It also had a five-speed manual transmission, making it a proper sports car.

This specific model is painted in black and has since been repainted, though the proper Alpina decals were put back on the car in their proper positions. It’s also still wearing its classic Alpina wheels, which are simply stunning 30 years later.

On the inside, this Alpina C2 wears black cloth seats with Alpina-colored stripes down the center. It also has an Alpina-specific steering wheel which, to be honest, I’m not a big fan of. But it’s still a cool interior. This car has had an aftermarket radio installed, but that’s probably for the best, as a unit from the ’80s is going to seem archaic nowadays. Everything seems to be intact and in good shape.

This specific car was imported from Japan, but it has its authentic Alpina plaque on the dash to identify it as a legitimate Alpina. Typically, Alpinas are worth quite a pretty penny, but this one’s current bid is only at $6,625, with only six days left to bid. The car only has 83,000 km (around 52,000 miles) on the clock, so it still has a ton of life left in it. Even if you get this car for under $10,000 by the time the bidding is over, you’ve got a great classic car on your hands.
