Video: Tuned BMW M5 Competition Drag Races Tuned Porsche 911 Turbo

Not long ago it seemed like BMW had no car capable of taking on the iconic Porsche 911 Turbo in a straight line drag race. The 911 Turbo is a beast on and off the track, being rated as a proper supercar by all accounts. And yet, it looks like there is a BMW out that can take on it on the drag strip.

When the BMW M5 Competition was launched, everyone wondered just how fast it would be compared to certified supercars. The video below should provide some insight into its capabilities and, by golly, does it look like the new M5 can deliver some mind-blowing figures.

The BMW M5 Competition here has been apparently gifted with a JB4 piggy-back tune and a new air filter. How much of a difference that makes in horsepower isn’t specified but it’s safe to say that the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood is no longer making only 625 HP. On the other hand, the Porsche isn’t lagging far behind in that regard either. The 991 version comes with a 520 HP engine as stock and according to the uploader, this particular car was modded with a Cobb tune and a new air filter.

All in all, these things are blazing fast also because of the all-wheel drive systems they have on board. The video also shows just how much of a difference launch control makes, as the M5 driver doesn’t use it on the first run and then changes his mind on the second run, only to beat the Porsche on the 1/4 mile with a time of 10.79-seconds and a trap speed of 130 mph.
