Another day and another BMW project from Abu Dhabi Motors. This time, it involves the new BMW X2 M35i, the M Performance Automobile of the X2 family. Featuring a Mineral Grey color, the X2 M35i also gets some visual upgrades that aim to enhance the looks and visual dynamics of the powerful compact crossover.
The subtle but cool Mineral Grey gets paired with some some orange accents which are placed, strategically, on some parts of the car. At the front, the orange stripes are applied to the front bumper and its large opening, while on the side, the lower section of the panels gets the orange paint.
The grey-painted wheels also get some orange stripes which match perfectly against their color and of course, agains the exterior’s design paint job.
Moving in the back, you would quickly spot yet another orange stripe, this time sitting along the top part of the diffuser which visually increases the width of the car.
The orange theme moves inside the cabin with a high-quality leather painted in a similar shade of orange. The door panels and dash area are also featuring the same color. Next on the list of visual upgrades is a carbon fiber trim which matches perfectly with the flashy colors and the car’s Lights package.
As we reported a while back, the new BMW X2 M35i comes with the most powerful 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo engine the Germans ever made. It is rated at 306 PS which translates to roughly 301 HP in the US. All cars will be all-wheel drive, using an Aisin-sourced 8-speed automatic gearbox to send the power from the engine to the four corners of the car.
AWD in combination with Launch Control will make sure that the 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque developed by the engine send you to 100 km/h (62 mph) from standstill in 4.9 seconds which is decent and on par with the competition.
The top model of the X2 family starts at $46,450 and it’s the first M Performance model built on a front-wheel drive architecture.
