BMW X3 M to Cost $69,900, X4 M to Start at $73,400

The new BMW X3 M and its X4 M brother are the big news on the automotive scene right now. But since you can’t buy one of these beauties without knowing how much they cost, here’s the down low: the BMW X3 M will kick things off at just under $70,000 while the X4 M will start at a bit more, $73,400. These prices don’t include the $995 destination and handling tax though.

The new modes will be arriving at dealers on July 13 and they will provide some much needed competition for the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 or the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV. Speaking of competition, the more powerful versions, the X3 M and X4 M Competition models will be around $7,000 more than their ‘standard’ brethren, a rather hefty price increase. Some would say it’s worth the trouble, but we’ll have to wait and see how the two compare before we make a decision in that regard.

The pricing means the average BMW enthusiast has to pay over $15,000 more compared to an M40i model for the full-on M car. The BMW X3 M40i, for example, starts at $54,650 and comes with 355 HP by comparison. The price difference is smaller when talking about the X4 M and its M40i alternative, as the M Performance car starts at $60,450. As for the competitors and their pricing, things are pretty much evened out.

The 469 HP V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 starts at the same price as the X3 M, $69,900 while the 400-HP Porsche Macan Turbo is considerably more expensive at $77,200. The Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV on the other hand, is closest in terms of performance but is also a considerably more expensive proposal starting at $79,995 thus making the X3 M look like a bargain in comparison.
