Video: 450 HP BMW M2 Goes for 300 km/h Acceleration Run

The BMW M2 is about to get even better. BMW is working on the so-called Competition model which is said to be a more than noticeable improvement over the current version. Using a detuned version of the S55 3-liter straight six mill from the M3 and M4 models, it is said to come with 400 HP and that means it will probably be considerably faster than what’s currently on offer. But then again, tuning companies have been offering M2 models with even more power for some time now.

One such example is PP-Performance. The tuning company is known to offer the BMW M2 with up to 450 HP without an engine swap which is one of the highest power outputs you can get on stock internals. What does that do to the performance of the car? Well, the video below should offer some pointers and, truth be told, the whole thing looks like a crazy experiment done on unrestricted Autobahn sectors.

Reaching 300 km/h (186 mph) does seem doable and that’s incredible speed for a car like the BMW M2. Of course, it’s even more impressive considering you need nerves of steel to do that on public roads. However, the people living near such Autobahn sectors are probably used to seeing such high velocity figures on their speedometers. And while the footage below will definitely prove how fast this 450 HP BMW M2 is in a continuous straight line, we’re also curious about other things.

One of the biggest questions people have about a more powerful M2 is whether it ruins the car’s character. After all, the M2 was praised for its tamed feel, offering you confidence behind the wheel, exactly because it didn’t feel like a rabid dog. Will that all chance once the Competition model comes out with 400 HP? Could be but then again what about this 450 HP beast? Is is just as good around corners as it is at devouring Autobahn asphalt?
