Bantry Bay's Mel Deasy added a one-over 72 to his opening 70 to win the Munster Boys U16 Amateur Open title by a shot at a windy Newcastle West.
Winner of the Munster U15 title a fortnight ago, Deasy got off to a great start with a two-under-par front nine but he bogeyed the 12th and 15th to lie two behind Roganstown's Joshua McCabe, who birdied the 11th and 15th with three holes to play.
McCabe triple bogeyed the 16th, however, and bogeyed the 17th for a 73 and Deasy could afford to bogey the last and still win by one.
