SPIED: BMW M4 LCI spotted

bmw_m4_spy

It’s already been a few years into the BMW M4‘s lifecycle, so it’s time for a refresh. Like all BMW models, the M4 will receive its LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) about three years into its…erm..life cycle. While we have no official detail as to what BMW might change or update for the post-LCI BMW M4, it’s possible we’ve now seen some of it first hand.

Some spy shots have come out of what seems to be a BMW M4 LCI. It’s wearing camouflage in all of the typical LCI places, such as around the headlights, the front bumper, around the taillights and on the inside, covering the center stack. This hints at an update to all of these things, which would indicate a mid-cycle refresh.

The new headlights are clearly visible and they look slimmer and more angular, more aggressive, than before. The surrounds for the headlights and kidney grilles are covered in camo, but the actual lights themselves look different. Out back, the taillights are almost entirely covered, but it looks like they could be the OLED taillights of the BMW M4 GTS. Which leads us to the more interesting bits about this specific car.

BMW M4 Competition Sport special edition

While much of it seems to be a standard BMW M4, it actually looks like it could be the Competition Sport special edition M4 that was only available in Spain. It’s wearing the BMW M4 GTS 20″ orange wheels and seems to have a more pronounced front lip than the standard M4. However, it’s lacking the wing of either the GTS or the CS and the M Performance side skirts. So we’re not positive that this is an M4 CS, but it looks like it could be.

While the M4 Competition Sport was only available in Spain and BMW only made 60 examples, it’s possible that this could be an updated version of that car and BMW could be selling it in more countries than just Spain. Or it could just be a Competition Package M4 LCI and maybe the orange wheels will be available. We have no way of being certain so we won’t speculate much.

What we do know is clearly BMW is working on the LCI for the M4 and this spied car could be both an LCI and a future special edition variant of the M4. We’ll have more info on this car as it comes out.
