Nenagh Golf Club
Cian Daly made it three wins in a row for Castletroy golfers when he survived brutal weather conditions to win the third round of the Eanna Jones-sponsored Mid West Alliance at Nenagh Golf Club on Saturday.
Strong winds and driving rain battered the 45 strong field, but Nenagh held up well as Daly racked up 34 points to win on a countback from fast-finishing home player Colwyn Martin.
In the over 45s category, defending champ and home favourite David Hunt got back to winning ways and is now leading the overall category with Galway's Joe Lyons in hot pursuit.
Competition was hot once again in the amongst the four to nine handicappers with last week's winner John Whelan finishing second with 29 points as Newcastle West's Jamie McCormack clinched a clear-cut victory with 32.
The next outing is at former EuroPro Tour venue Ballykissteen Golf Club in Tipperary next Sunday, March 9. Tee-times should be reserved by calling the pro's shop on 062 33333.
