Video: BMW X5 M Drag Races Jeep Trackhawk with Predictable Results

While the world is waiting for the new BMW X5 M to come out, we have to make due with the F85 model. It’s not like the current version isn’t crazy enough though. I mean, who actually needs an SUV with 575 PS anyway, right? But, since the SUV segment is on the rise, a wider variety of cars will be on offer as time goes by, and the upcoming X5 M will surely have plenty of fans, once it comes out.

Until that moment comes though, we’re taking a look at how the current version matches up against the competition. The car the X5 M has to deal with here is almost from a different league here though. The Jeep Trackhawk is a bit of a monster, if you ask me. That’s because it was built with only one purpose in mind: to go fast in a straight line. The Trackhawk borrows the same 6.2-liter V8 used by the Dodge Challenger Hellcat and its specs are borderline insane.

From that supercharged mill, 717 HP and 875 Nm of torque are going out to all four corners of the car, giving it plenty of kick to get into triple digit speeds. The 0-60 mph sprint is claimed to take just 3.5 seconds but, mind you, that’s doable only if you manage not to turn the tires into a cloud of smoke because yes, this thing will do all-wheel burnouts. On the other side of this race though we have a Bavarian machine.

The X5 M has a turbocharged 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 under the hood good for 567 HP and 750 Nm of torque. That, coupled with all-wheel drive allows the SUV to reach 60 mph in a claimed 4 seconds flat. It’s a fast car but considering how big the power difference is between the two, there’s only one winner here. Take them to the track though and things start tilting in favor of the BMW.

If you don’t have time to sit through the entire review just skip to 2:30.
