BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe to Be Unveiled in November

After teasing us with a photo – or more along the lines of a rendering – of the taillights of the upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe, BMW announced when we’ll actually get to see the new model in the metal. During a press conference held in Munich earlier today, BMW’s CEO, Harald Krueger mentioned that the new model will be unveiled this November, at the LA Auto Show.

That’s actually a logical move as the 2 Series Gran Coupe will be looking to rival some cars in the US that are currently unchallenged by a BMW. I’m referring to the Audi A3 sedan and the A-Class Sedan. Both of those cars are running the game in the segment right now and the BMW needs to get in on that.

Nevertheless, what we know so far about the car tells us it will give the other two cars it faces a good run for their money. The 2 Series Gran Coupe will come with a host of 2-liter 4-cylinder engines, mostly shared with the X2. It will be a FWD model underneath it all, built atop the UKL platform and all-wheel drive will be offered as optional. Engine output will vary from under 200 HP to over 300, on the M Performance version.

You’ll get a good mix of optionals to deck your car with, from a wide range of paint choices to wheels and bespoke seats inside. Chances are the new model will also get the BMW Professional Live Cockpit but there’s still some debate on that topic going on in Munich right now. What’s pretty obvious is that since the unveil will take place in November, the car will go on sale in the first quarter of 2020.
