The 11th green and the Maiden’s Tower at Laytown and Bettystown
Naas’ Gus Fitzpatrick took the overall nett prize in the third outing in the 2019 Hilary Golf Society series at a rain-lashed Laytown and Bettystown.
Playing off three, Fitzpatrick was the clear winner, racing to the turn in two-under 33 to lay the foundations of a winning, two-under par 69 nett.
He finished two shots clear of Hermitage scratch player Alan Dowling as Dundalk’s Eoin Murphy won the gross with a fine 69.
Fitzpatrick was joined by Corrstown’s Dave Lowry and Cill Dara’s Kieran Byrne in winning the team prize with a score of 61.
The next outing in the series takes place on Sunday, March 24 at County Louth.
