E65-gen ALPINA B7 up for sale on Bring-A-Trailer

The E65-generation BMW 7 Series was an interesting car. When it was new, it sold well, packed new technologies and had polarizing style. Looking back on it, though, many enthusiasts feel as if the E65 was a bit of a swing and a miss. It was certainly daring and risky and whether or not any of that risk paid off depends on who you ask. Some love it, some hate it. If you like it, though, you’re in luck because its lack of popularity has made its value plummet. Even better, you can get an ALPINA B7 variant of it for really good value.

Let’s make this perfectly clear right away — all ALPINAs are flipping cool. I personally don’t like the E65 7 Series that much. But I’d drive this ALPINA B7 everyday with a smile on my face. That’s because ALPINAs are just inherently cool.

This specific ALPINA B7 is a 2007 model with 84,000 miles on the clock. Under its hood lies a 4.4 liter BMW V8 but one that’s been supercharged, rather than turbocharged, which is odd. It was also the first ever supercharged ALPINA model ever. It made about 500 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which allowed the big B7 to hustle from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. While that’s not particularly fast by modern standards, as a new BMW 740i can almost do that, it’s still pretty quick.

The only real downfall of its powertrain is its transmission, which was a six-speed automatic that, by today’s standards, shifts quite slow. Still, it’s good enough and it has shift buttons on the steering wheel for drivers to shift gears themselves.

While ALPINAs should be blue or green, this one still looks cool in black. Although, we’re disappointed to see that the previous owner replaced the stunning ALPINA BBS wheels with standard BMW wheels, even if they look similar. They aren’t the same.

At the time of writing this, the ALPINA B7 is priced at $9,250, which isn’t too shabby for an ALPINA. There are only two days left on the bid so we’re not sure how much it’s going to jump up. ALPINAs are all great so if you’re in the market for a used Bimmer, this is worth a good look.
