Photoshoot: BMW M2 Gets More Power And HRE R101 Wheels

The little beast that is the BMW M2 is slowly becoming a darling of the aftermarket tuning world. Everything from performance upgrades, suspension and racetrack setup, all the way to aftermarket wheels, is being prepared for the smallest high-performance coupe in BMW’s lineup. It’s really nothing unusual. With so many of these M2s, a wide variety of owners decide to customize their vehicles to reflect their personal core values.

This BMW M2 comes from Laptime Performance, a German tuner that specializes in high-performance vehicle tuning. Unlike the stock BMW M2, which is powered by the 3.0 Liter BMW TwinPower Turbo engine delivering 370 horsepower and 369lb-ft of torque, this M2 delivers 50 horsepower more – same as the BMW M3 and BMW M4 – thanks to software optimization by McChip-DKR for a total of 420 horsepower and 580 N of torque. This should allow the nimble high-performance coupe improve its sprint from 0-62mph (0-100km/h)  stock time of just 4.1 seconds even more.

This BMW M2 is also fitted with a CAE Ultra Shifter solution for the BMW F2X F87 platform. It’s basically a motorsport conversion, adding a 6-speed manual H-Transmission option to the vehicle, the desired upgrade for race track applications. It allows easier shifts, more precise shifter handling and overall, a better feeling for racing scenarios and high-performance driving as well.

BMW M2 Gets HRE R101 Wheels

For this Metallic Silver BMW M2, this was not the end of modding work. The vehicle features a set of lightweight HRE R101 wheels as well. The wheels are sized 19×9.5 and 19×10.5 in the front and rear, respectively. Thanks to a Brushed Aluminum finish and the highly visible HRE logo, these pose a perfect addition to this vehicle. Furthermore, a KW Suspension coilover system was installed. In turn, it enhances the cornering performance and driving dynamics, but also, it allows for the M2 to achieve a much-improved stance overall as well.
