Video: BMW M760Li xDrive Races Tesla Model S, RS6 and E63 S AMG Wagon

The BMW M760Li xDrive used to be the fastest car the German brand ever made until not long ago. Its massive 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 engine made sure of that with over 600 HP and massive amounts of torque. However, the new F90 M5 came around with a similar amount of power coming from a lighter and smaller V8 and therefore stole its thunder. Nevertheless, the velocities you can hit with the 7er are incredible considering its size.

In the video below we get to see it take on smaller and lighter cars, with one exception. That would be the Tesla Model S which, even though is smaller in size, weighs more than the M760Li xDrive model, due to its massive battery pack. That’s also the EV’s ace in the sleeve here, as it is the fastest car on the track, not only when it comes to numbers written on paper but also if we’re discussing real-life acceleration, as you’re about to see.

The remaining three cars are pretty closely matched as well. The Mercedes-AMG E63 AMG S and the BMW both have around 600 HP to play around with but the Merc is lighter and therefore faster to 100 km/h (62 mph) than its Bavarian rival. On the other hand, the Audi RS6 Avant uses a 4-liter V8 which makes 560 PS and is quoted to do the same sprint in 3.9 seconds which, as expected, is slower than all of the other cars here.

The video below shows the differences between them clearly but it is impressive how well the M760Li xDrive held its own against this kind of stiff competition. In the end, the Tesla won it, of course, but if the race was to continue for a couple hundred yards more, things might’ve been completely different in the end.
