Video: 750 HP BMW M5 Races 700 HP C63 AMG and 750 HP X5 M

Looking at the news today, one would be inclined to think that the horsepower war is still going strong. Cars that used to take the kids to school every morning and then take you back to work again are now pushing 600 HP and that’s a conservative estimate of what the manufacturers are claiming. Among those you’ll find cars like the BMW M5, models that push the performance envelope to the absolute limit and have more power than you’d ever need.

It’s hard to make a case for a 600 HP car, no matter the badge on the hood or boot. Sure, those figures can be justified when talking about agricultural machines or maybe ships but when talking about a mid-size sedan, it’s hard to keep a straight face defending it. For the people racing in the video below, 600 HP haven’t been enough for a long time now. As you’re about to see, they claim to have at least 100 HP more.

The F10 BMW M5 shown here claims to put out 750 HP thanks to its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and a tune from GT Performance in Kazakhstan. Such huge amounts of power definitely lead to a playful rear end, since the M5 used to be rear-wheel drive only not too long ago. Then again, it’s the same with its first rival here, a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG that was apparently pushed to ‘only’ 700 HP.

Then there’s the brethren competition to look at here, as the M5 takes on the X5 M on the other side of the strip. The SUV was tuned by ‘Ramon Performance’ and is also claiming 750 HP. However, the difference between the two M cars is obvious, especially at higher speeds. Off the line the xDrive system of the X5 M helps out but once you reach triple digit speeds, the heavy SUV with its less aerodynamic body doesn’t stand a chance as you’re about to see.
