Naas' Conor O'Rourke might have missed on at the First Stage of Q-School but he's staying sharp on The Gecko Tour in Spain.
On Tuesday, the former St Andrews Links Trophy winner closed with a four-under 67 to finish tied for fifth on two-under with Delgany's Simon Bryan in the 36-hole event at The Westin La Quinta Resort.
Veteran Juan Quirós, winner of the Irish Seniors Open at Ballyliffin in 2008, captured the €2,000 top prize when he followed an even-par 71 with a 65 to win by a shot from Champions Tour star Miguel Angel Jiménez (71-66) on six-under.
Manuel Quirós and former Volvo Masters runner-up Carlos Rodiles tied for third on three-under with O'Rourke and Bryan winning €650 each (before tax).
O'Rourke plans to play several events on the circuit over the next month.
